The Little Race for Little People is San Diego's Wackiest Inflatable Boat Race
held as an annual charity event to benefit the
San Diego Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Saturday, August 16th, will be the 17h Annual wet 'n wild "Little Race for Little People". This year's event, hosted by the Chula Vista Yacht Club at the California Yacht Marina in Chula Vista, is big, wet, and wonderful.. All funds raised will be directly donated to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at San Diego's Children's Hospital.

This Race is unique! Last year we had than 40 inflatable boats, each with a costumed team of 4, participating in "The Biggest Water Fight on the West Coast" . The teams were issued a length of twine, four bailers, pvc pipe, oars and a bed sheet. They spent the morning getting their sails ready. At 11:45 all the sails were ready for the "Parade of Sails" after which the crews manned their boats. Just prior to the race START, the Harbor Police and the Fire Department prepared the racers.

The race is arduous. Leg 1 is a row to windward, Leg 2 a row backwards up the course, Leg 3 a row with the boat forward and the crew backward and the final leg 4 a "sail" home with the "MYSTERY RULE" in place. The Prizes are as strange as the race.
